Addressing tips for China
- For a Latin-script international address, write the addressee first, then street and building details, then the district or city line, with the postcode and province on the last domestic line.[1]
- Chinese postcodes have six digits. In the UPU examples, the postcode is written before the province or municipality name, such as 100191 BEIJING.[1]
- Put building, floor and room details above the street line when the recipient gives them, for example an apartment block, floor and room before the road name.[1]
- For P.O. Box delivery, the UPU example uses a P.O. Box line followed by the postcode and city line.[1]
- Keep administrative names exactly as the recipient provides them; counties, districts, cities and provinces can all matter for sorting.[1]

Questions about sending mail to China
- How long does mail to China take?
- We estimate 8โ15 business days after mailing. It is an estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date, and the count starts on the day we mail your letter, not the day you order.
- Can I send a letter to China from another country?
- Yes. You order online from wherever you are, and we print and mail the letter for you, so you don't need stamps or a trip to the post office. Once your order is assigned, its page shows the country it was mailed from.
- Can I send a registered letter to China?
- Not at the moment: registered letters aren't available for China. A tracked letter gives you a tracking number.
- Can I track a letter to China?
- Yes, with a tracked letter. Tracking updates depend on the postal networks along the way, so they may not cover every step. Your order page shows the updates we receive.
- Do I need to enter a state or province for China?
- Yes, the address form asks for it and we print it as part of the address. Pick the address from the suggestions to fill it in automatically.
- Should I write a China address in Chinese characters or Pinyin?
- Use the recipient's reliable version. MaisonMail's reviewed layout follows China Post's UPU Pinyin examples for international readability; if the recipient gives Chinese text, keep the administrative order and postcode intact.[1]
- Where does the Chinese postcode go?
- On the final domestic line before the province or municipality name, for example 100191 BEIJING.[1]
- Where do I put building and room details?
- Put them in the second address line so they print above the street line, matching the UPU building example.
