Certified email (PEC)
PEC (posta elettronica certificata) is an Italian certified email service that issues receipts with legal value when a message is sent and when it is delivered to the recipient’s mailbox. Think of it as the email counterpart of a raccomandata A/R. In Italy, a PEC sent to the recipient’s PEC address counts as notification by post unless the law says otherwise, and companies and professionals list their PEC addresses in the public INI-PEC directory; a PEC sent to an ordinary email address gives no such proof of delivery.
