Payment reminder (Mahnung)
A Mahnung is an out-of-court demand asking a debtor to pay an amount that is already due. Think of it as a formal payment request, not a court order. In Germany, it can put the debtor in default (Verzug), although a reminder is sometimes unnecessary and three reminders are not a general requirement; sending it by post is optional, and it does not establish that the claim is valid.
