Addressing tips for New Zealand
- A New Zealand postcode has four digits and is written to the right of the town or city name.[1]
- Province names, regions and nearby cities should not be used in New Zealand postal addresses.[1]
- Urban addresses can include a sub-locality line above the town and postcode, such as Mount Victoria above WELLINGTON 6011.[1]
- For PO Boxes, the UPU guidance says there should be no space inside PO Box or Private Bag numbers.[1]
- For rural delivery, the RD line goes below the street line and above the town plus postcode line.[1]

Questions about sending mail to New Zealand
- How long does mail to New Zealand take?
- We estimate 10–18 business days after mailing. It is an estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date, and the count starts on the day we mail your letter, not the day you order.
- Can I send a letter to New Zealand from another country?
- Yes. You order online from wherever you are, and we print and mail the letter for you, so you don't need stamps or a trip to the post office. Once your order is assigned, its page shows the country it was mailed from.
- Can I add a return receipt to a letter to New Zealand?
- Yes. Choose Registered letter and add the return receipt. The recipient signs on delivery and the signed receipt is posted back to the sender address on your letter. A sender address is required.
- Can I track a letter to New Zealand?
- Yes, with a tracked or registered letter. Tracking updates depend on the postal networks along the way, so they may not cover every step. Your order page shows the updates we receive.
- Where does the New Zealand postcode go?
- After the town or city name on the final domestic line, for example WELLINGTON 6011.[1]
- Should I add a New Zealand region or province?
- No. UPU's New Zealand sheet says province names, regions and nearby cities must not be used.[1]
- Where do I put a suburb or RD line?
- Use the second address line. It prints above the town and postcode line.
