Addressing tips for Mexico
- Write the addressee, street number and name, then the colonia, quarter or village line before the postcode line.[1]
- A Mexican postcode has five digits and is written to the left of the locality name, followed by the state abbreviation: 02860 MEXICO, CDMX.[1]
- State abbreviations include CDMX, JAL, NL, Q ROO and many others; keep the abbreviation the recipient or address suggestion provides.[1]
- The UPU examples show colonia or village information on its own line, such as Col. Tlatilco or Puerto Juarez.[1]

Questions about sending mail to Mexico
- How long does mail to Mexico take?
- We estimate 7–12 business days after mailing. It is an estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date, and the count starts on the day we mail your letter, not the day you order.
- Can I send a letter to Mexico from another country?
- Yes. You order online from wherever you are, and we print and mail the letter for you, so you don't need stamps or a trip to the post office. Once your order is assigned, its page shows the country it was mailed from.
- Is a return receipt available for Mexico?
- No. Registered letters to Mexico are delivered against signature, but a return receipt isn't sold for this destination.
- Can I track a letter to Mexico?
- Yes, with a tracked or registered letter. Tracking updates depend on the postal networks along the way, so they may not cover every step. Your order page shows the updates we receive.
- Do I need to enter a state or province for Mexico?
- Yes, the address form asks for it and we print it as part of the address. Pick the address from the suggestions to fill it in automatically.
- Where does the postcode go in a Mexico address?
- Before the locality name on the last domestic line, followed by the state abbreviation, such as 02860 MEXICO, CDMX.[1]
- Where should I put the colonia or village?
- Put it in the second address line so it prints above the postcode and locality line.[1]
- Does MaisonMail need the Mexican state abbreviation?
- Yes. Use the province/state field for the abbreviation supplied by the recipient or address suggestion.
